We're delighted to present Regina Noakes in SPRING 2020. Living in Western Australian and educated in Boston, Singapore, Italy and Australia, Regina's works are full of passion and imagination.
Spring 2020 is inspired by 'people in various situations and my obsession with the Hills of Perth. The natural beauty of the land and fauna'.
'I paint from imagination, instead of from life, as this gives me expressive freedom. Art inevitably reveals your life and you as a person, exposing you to your audience, and making yourself very aware of what to present and what to hold back or, maybe, modify. Yet the act of painting for me has to be spontaneous. There are so many mysteries in life. Motherhood, friendships, loneliness are quite a significant part of my work. No matter how much you think you're going to be able to keep going on your route it affects you. Nurturing the family, nurturing your creativity, all becomes intertwined and feeds into the work in a very positive way.'
Regina's process is Spring-like, the final fruits that are exhibited emerging from many hidden layers with the spontaneous and instinctive mark-making ensuring the final paintings 'are as new to me as they are to the viewer.'
Glassware will also be on show for Spring 2020 made by accomplished WA glass artist Jill Yelland. Fresh new creations from Yelland's latest collection also reflect Spring in full bloom.
Exhibition opens 2pm Sunday September 20 and runs until the October 18.
